[ Hmph. She takes a few minutes to reply, thinking it over. A blind date. Not really an idea she is entirely crazy about, but it would just be this once. And Sciel wouldn't set her up with someone she'd have a horrible time with, not even to indulge her own puckishness. Maybe she has been cooped up a bit too much lately. She can always just up and leave if it turns out to be a disaster. ]
I don't have plans for Saturday. So, I guess I could spare a few hours for this... blind date.
With love and affection, Lune, taking an āinterest in your social lifeā is a large part of friendship. But coincidentally, a very boring trolley ride was a good spot to actually plan it out.
In our thirties, yes. A decade ago, I would have invited you both out and then not shown up, or just repeatedly sat you together at parties and dinners until you got the hint.
Well, isn't that kind of ineffective? You're just hoping these two people will "get the hint". Why wouldn't you simply ask either of them if they have an interest in the other person and go from there?
If I ask "are you interested in so and so?" they will probably say no because they've never spent time together in private, or in any sort of romantic setting. They'll close the door without even entertaining it! But if I give them an evening to do whatever they like, starting by getting to commiserate together about falling for my little trick, maybe something will spark.
You know what I mean. I can easily talk about chroma diffraction in inverted pictos or the bioluminescence of the native flora of the Continent or nature vs. nurture in Gestrals for hours. Not so much those casual, getting to know you conversations.

But... ask away.

A. What are you doing on Saturday?
B. How do you feel about a little blind date?

Lovely, though. Iāll let your date know. Thereās a restaurant in town I think youād both like. Should have the entire place to yourselves.

If you say so. You realize this could be a disaster, right? I haven't dated anyone in... [ ever? ] a really long time.

I donāt think itāll be a disaster. I took your rustiness into account when I concocted this plan and ALSO have a lot of faith in you.

[ Lune laughs at that, fondly. ] Thanks. Sneaky of youā now I'll have see this thing through or risk disappointing you.
